EMDR

I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening.

Peter Levine

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences by using bilateral eye movements, tapping or other stimulation.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. EMDR therapy has shown to be effective in treating a wide range of traumatic and distressing events, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and panic disorders, grief, acute stress, depression and bipolar disorders, chronic pain, dissociative disorders, phobias, and more!
